SumoMath uses the Soroban to help children build a strong understanding of numbers and arithmetic through a visual, structured, and consistent process.
Children progress at their own pace, moving forward as skills become truly mastered—not simply because a certain amount of time has passed.
Let them teach you.
You don’t need to know Soroban to support your child. Be curious, ask questions, and give your child opportunities to explain what they’re learning.
The goal is consistency and mastery, not rushing through levels.
10 minutes (younger Cubs) ⋅ 15 minutes (older Cubs) ⋅ 20 minutes (Lions) of practice at home can help reinforce what they’re learning.

Our Cubs’ days focus on strong foundations in reading and writing, alongside Sumo Math, Wonder Circles, hands-on projects, and opportunities to build independence.
UFLI Reading builds decoding, blending, word work, and real reading skills.
Handwriting is practiced with an emphasis on quality over speed.
Cub Wonder Circles encourage Cubs to ask questions, think deeply, and share their ideas.
Hands-on projects, life skills, movement, and enrichment are woven throughout the day.
Cubs are given opportunities to build independence, confidence, and public-speaking skills.
Each Cub day blends focused learning, movement, play, conversation, creativity, and hands-on projects providing structure with plenty of room to wonder.

This year, Lions will be challenged to ask better questions, investigate ideas, use evidence, and make meaningful connections across subjects. A major focus will be reflection and transfer—helping Lions recognize how learning in one area can strengthen their understanding in another.
The year's learning is connected by one ongoing thread:
Discover → Build → Share
Weekly work will come home for families to review, sign, and return on Monday.
Learning will extend beyond the Studio through observation, interviews, community experiences, and hands-on projects.
Families are encouraged to share their cultural heritage and ideas throughout the year.
Reflection and transfer will be intentionally built into the learning process.
Our days are designed to balance focused Conquer Time, project-based learning, physical excellence, collaboration, reflection, and opportunities for individualized support.
